SOCIAL OR SOSYAL?
Social media takes on many different forms, including magazines, Internet forums, weblogs, social blogs, microblogging, wikis, photographs or pictures, video, rating and social bookmarking. It is indeed useful and there is no doubt about making our economy highly exposed to social interaction. People obtain information, education, news and other data from electronic media and print media. Social media are clearly different from traditional media, such as newspapers, television, and film. Nowadays, millions and millions of people are using social media not just for important purposes but just to be “in-the-trend” or to be the what-we-call “pasosyal”.
The master mind of this chaos would probably the misused of the new generation. We decline social media’s importance and look into it as something so persuasive. We might keep our reactions for ourselves when we watch televisions but in social media we can always say what we want. Well I guess that is wrong. Honestly, I’ve been using social media since first year college and I’ve seen myself irresponsible for the past 2 years in a way that I became so much dependent on it when it comes to researches. Yes, it really makes your life easy but it also makes your life so conducive to idleness. On the other hand I pity those people who has been eaten wholly by the social media; posting nonsense things, relationship status, how they’re feeling, where they’ve been, what are they eating, what they want, who is they’re mortal enemy, getting sympathy, arguments posted, unnecessary pictures and many more. I mean, my gosh, does the world really have to know all this? Or we’re just adding up something that will make us look more uneducated? It seems like a hungry person would probably go in an Internet Cafe’ than to buy something to eat.
We do have a freedom of expression but use it wisely. Not all oppurtunities were good. The tendency of having social media is that you keep on posting uneccessary things that you feel after watching television, because you want your reactions to be heard by everyone. Before clicking a social media, always remember that it can make you better or it can make you worst. Social media revolution has changed and will continue to change and you are the reason of it.

As I observe , Social Media is a big threat to television industry. As for my self experience for my behavior, I've become a Social Media addict! and I get easily get irritated when someone's bothering me. Addiction sites? Youtube and Facebook which is not a good sign for me... I repeat don't bother me! (maybe I need a rehab) But the good side of it is I easily get updated on what I really need including news and new trends.
On television commercials like, Beauty,Food,Gadget or whatever that product is, they use social media now as a new link to their products and they even create a fanpage of it as an innovation to get updated on what's latest. this is not bad for the television industry because social media is also a big help for the both television network and for the big companies.

Ang Social Media ay isang uri ng komunikasyon upang mapadali magpasapasa ng mga impormasyon sa mga tao. Ngunit ano nga ba ang epekto nito sa telebisyon?
Sabi ng ilan, isa ito sa tatapos sa pamamayagpag ng telebisyon. Hindi ako sangayon dito sapagkat para sa akin isa ito sa mga ilang bagay na nagpapalakas sa industriya ng telebisyon, Bakit? Kung mapapansin natin lahat ang mga sektor ng idustriya na nakikita natin sa telebisyon ay nakakonekta sa social networking site. Halimbawa na lamang sa Facebook, karamihan ay may kanya kanyang "FAN PAGE" Isa kasi ito sa kanilang business strategy na ginagawa upang mapalakas pa ang popularidad ng kompanya, mga produkto, o kya nman mga tao. Mas mura kasi ang ang advertisement sa social media kaysa sa telebisyon. Hindi sa lahat ng bagay ay pwede mo kaagad ilunsad ang isang bagay sa telebisyon kung wala ka namang sapat na budget sa pagpapalabas nito.
Limitado lamang ang mga nakikita natin sa telebisyon. Salang sala ang mga nakikita sa telebisyon kabaliktaran naman ito sa social media. Mas bukas naman sa publiko ang mga paksa sa mga internet Kahit mga bata ay madali nang nabubuksan ang kanilang mga pagiisip. halimbawa na lamang ang mga site na restricted for adults. Isa itong threat sa kaisipan ng mga bata.
Oo, maraming tao ang may mga laptop sa bahay para sa internet. Ngunit isa ba itong dahilan para bumagsak ang industriya ng telebisyon? Kailanman hindi maitutumba ng social media ang telebisyon, Bakit? Naging parte na ng buhay ng tao ang telebisyon. Hindi porket mas maunlad na ang teknolohiya ngayon at mabilis na naipapasa ang mga impormasyon at mas napapadali ang mga gawain natin sa internet ay ganun ganun na lamang babagsak ang telebisyon. "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade."
Contrast to the ideas of many, I do not believe that the social media poses a threat to the television. It only gives diversity and a new format to the game the broadcast media.
Social media is a great form of advertisement to the people. People talk about it on these social sites and what topic trends then the mass will associate themselves with it so that they will become one of the "in crowds". And it quickly spreads and will be talked about every hour to every person. Thus it gives "very" powerful advertisement. The only problem is that, the trending show monopolizes people. People only tend to watch what are “in” and forget about the rest.
The problem with social media is that it attracts many gullible and recessive people. Thus the dominant and those prominent people dominate others. Whatever they want, the masses will try to get, whatever they watch the masses will also watch. People can be easily deceived into these things without even weighing if the show that other people wants is really what they want.
I never saw social media as a threat to television but if you say internet then it’s a whole other story. Social media is only one of the diverse play of the minds to get people to watch your show. On the other hand, the internet is a surplus of everything that can be accessed 24/7. Still I do not fear that the television will be obsolete, change is part of life. And if the television industry closes, be happy. It only means that we are evolving.

“Media Plague”
We now live in a fast pace world where in someday humane would be extinct and technology would take over. Social Media as of now consists of the Social Sites that first appeared in the 2000’s as “Friendster” and now sites like Facebook, Tumblr, twitter, Google+, Blogspot, LiveJournal and Plurk are just some of the sites that someday will eat us alive. These examples of Social Media or Social Sites rather affect us and we do not know it until the time comes that our behavior shifts into another personality. For example when SIMS* Social became a hit in Facebook it also became a hit to me. I reached number 1 as the richest SIMS* player within my Facebook friends within a week and I could also blame it to my competitive ego let’s face it nobody likes to be at the brink bottom but after reigning for almost 4 months or so I felt quite sick and bored by the game. Social Sites makes these little monsters inside of us that we do not know until the date comes that we regret every single thing we did. On the positive side Social Media could also be helpful in a way; it could help us to give brand new and modern ideas, Technology would be always be progressive and Social Media would always be part of it thus if the Television Industry would partner up with Social Media fresh train of ideas would be serve daily to the audience of both industries but still a challenge would always rise: Competition.

Media for God's Glory.?
If before, television has been phenomenal that almost all the people knows every information about it and and are aware of what it can offer that is more than a lot, from all the "gimiks" and stuffs it provides for the people, today, another form of media is taking its place. The television itself has now become a fan of the social media and has also become the promoter of the said new media which brings me to a question, are they friends or enemies?
It cannot be denied that almost all the people on earth has their own set of television at home, for some even more than one. Because of these, the behavior and preferences of the people specially the viewers are obviously affected. From their way of living, the clothes they wear, food they eat, movies they watch, games they play, school where they study and even on churches they go to. These are all influenced by the television whether we agree or not. It has become our attitude to cope up with whats new even to the length of pretending for its sake.
It's also because of the television and social media that the leading nations in the world are working very hard to produce more and high edge technology - equipments, gadgets and many things that will promote it and will get people work hard for it. Many news show, specially in our country showcase their astonishing equipments in line with the information they get from facebook, twitter and youtube that makes the buzz in our respective places.
Television will always be remembered by our generation today but until when? It will soon be forgotten if the television, will not work hard for it to be acknowledged in the future. The social media has emerged from its shell and is now soaring high all over the world. if it cannot be stopped, the television has to make ways to soar up high together with the social media.
The television and Social Media? These are all made to give glory to our Almighty God. If all these things are keeping us away from knowing God and giving our full attention the Him that deserves it all then its not doing its purpose. If we will not be aware of what it can do to our selves then we are on the wrong road.

I’m not wondering why there are variations in all aspects of the society or rather be in the whole world that’s occurring as time passes by. We can’t deny the fact that we’re living in a contemporary and industrialized world. The evidence is that we are already in the“technopolitan”—meaning we belong in a community in which technology plays a dominant role in our lives. Since several apparatus were being made specifically a television, many programs were also propagated wherein people are captivated and are being moved by the convincing powers of it.
Business minded personalities, advertisers or the inventors ain’t contented with these gadgets, so they’ve created computers, ipads and other newly invented forms of technology. Apparently, it also brought a great impact which for some considered beneficial and for others, not.
Basically, television and social media industries are the two factors dominating the world. But by the time social media invaded this generation, television is one of the industries that has been affected and infected. Perhaps, people nowadays aren’t satisfied of just sitting and watching TV programs. Communication induced people to do out of these habits. They want to communicate, regardless of their distance or their own places, to win friends and to chat with them as well. Because of this, in communication, nothing is impossible. And since social media is now considered as an intrinsic way of communication, entertainment, and education, many are utilizing this resulting to a greater and increasing number of users as well as a big edifice for the wealthy accounts of the advertisers.
In my own perception, social media and television are similar on how they’re trying to influenced people’s behavior and preferences. It’s just that social media has its broader perspective wherein no limitations has been promulgated. It has a bigger extent that people specifically children might be at risk.
Nowadays, there’s a lot of high competent and accountable televisions that is being established which can produce two channel programs at a time.
Indeed, it is a great factor that social media industry can be utilized in a cheaper way. Even people don’t have television at home; they’re surrounded by a lot of internet shops rendering computer rentals at a very affordable price. Unlike if you don’t have television you are incapable of doing it.
Social media is a complete representation of a superb society however may also be a disadvantage for one’s way of living. Sometimes we need something to jolt us out of lifeless routine – a bold new thought, a different slant on a familiar subject, or bit of wisdom from someone who’s “walked down that road” before we have – all this pop out on my mind while thinking on the answers to the questions. All quoted from John Maxwell’s “The Power of Thinking Big.”
We cannot deny the fact that nothing is permanent on this world. Everything changes through time and that we people doesn’t do anything but just go with the flow and being “just”, we take everything therein. Way back then, the problem is that how we make this life a very comfortable one? So people fix it though it wasn’t broken. We create and recreate things that would help us understand that word “access” – media – all matters that help us extend our thinking. Later, it became part of our daily lives and today, the biggest challenge for us is to get out of the idiot boxes. The challenge lies not on People versus the Media. Instead, it lies on people versus the extent of their knowledge.
Unsurprisingly, it is the microchips that drive us today. Thomas Jefferson said that every generation needs a new revolution but isn’t it that this idea only makes us craved for more than enough? And that, it makes more demands? Think. We are where we are now because we let it happen. The media do not forcefully influence us but it us, who voluntarily offer ourselves to be influenced by it. The fact is that we create something and be controlled by it.

Not only entertain us because it helps us in making homework’s, school projects and etc. by using Google. So it affects very much the television industry. They choose to switch on their personal computers, laptop, ipad and etc. rather than in their television sets, because in social media they can also watch through You Tube, iwatch TV and etc. In short Social Media is easy and right away the results are there and more hi-tech.

Facebook here, youtube there, google here, twitter there and wherever you look around social media, platforms made the world a smaller place for everyone. Because we cannot denied that social media have a lot of benefits for all the people, most especially to the students and many businesses, Social media make our life easier in many ways. It allows you to do research, pay bills, look for jobs, and find old friends and so much more. And for some teens by using a social networking site like facebook they can do everything, they can express their feelings that they cannot utter, and they can also court or stalk their crushes. And through chatting they can make a relationship. It’s one way to intermingle socially; I admit that I am also a fan of FB because through of it, I still able communicate with my childhood friends and to my mother in the foreign country.
Social media sounds completely GOOD to us right?? Nevertheless, come to think of it is really good?? There is the saying says that “Everything that is too much is dangerous.” I believe social media is becoming dangerous to all of us, if we use it too much. Despite the good uses of social media, it has its disadvantages, because as we can see nowadays, many students became lazy because of it, instead of doing their assignment, they are busy updating their FB. And student became dependent to the internet when it comes to researching/assignment, they do copy and paste without reading what is the selection all about, It also the cause of the spam. Yes! I agreed that social media make our life easier, and it is the easiest communication- it’s quick and cheap to keep in touch to our family and friends. However, it makes us lazy and put our life in perilous. And sad to say the large part of our generation is being addicted to social media that’s why theirs no people watching television, and for that reason Television, industry suffered they are being affected to the rapid growth of social media.
"Efficient Method"
Television and Social Media was a big part of Philippine industry, The two became worldwide source of information, entertainment and lot of enjoyment for the people. But the question is does social media affect the television industry?
I don't think so! for me there is no rivalry between television and social media, instead they work together and they connected to each other. One example in a TV contest sometimes they set online voting for the supporters and if you like the show you can now visit their website and give comments. All network station has there own website so we can check latest updates all the time, social media was really helpful in television industry in fact because of the arrival of modern device there's a mean of exchange in terms of money in every business, that's why fulfillment and growth succeed.
All of this was only my opinion and I can't please you especially if we have different knowledge about this matter. I can only say that there is no challenges faced by the television industry just because of the coming of social media because there is no wrong of being modern in the present, especially if it's more efficient method.

This is what I am NOW.
I think Television is being devoured by the Social Media. Come to think that all of us is curious in many things. If you have a Facebook, so then He has and better than yours. All that is trending and played in YouTube, news and everything in Yahoo, games in Friendster, all of the mentioned are the fruits of developing technology. That’s how technology works.
Now, you can easily get connected to internet. If you have a money to rent 2 hours in the internet café, buy a load for your modem, find a restaurant that has Wi-Fi, all of these are possible. How about your curiosity.. I’m very sorry for the word. If you have heard something that is trending in the internet, the tendency is you are going to try it and watch it. And if you are very fond of it, it goes to addiction. I will ask you a question.. How many hours do you spend for using Facebook?? How many times do you open it?? Honestly I use Facebook 2 – 4 hrs. and I open it 3 – 5x a day. I’m very used to it. I’m used to update my status, upload photos and many more. That’s what I’m doing every day. My parents always sold me because “I cannot focus on my studies and I’m not serious on it. My grades are getting low because of it” which is Not.
Let’s go back. Even in the news I have observed this one, Twitter, Facebook, Ebay etc., networks here in the Philippines use these social networking sites. I think it is their way of delivering fast and fresh news and update us what’s new. I’m not sure of it but I think there is no challenge for the television, because everything has its own beginning and end…. Since television was invented it keeps on developing and it goes better and better.. That’s how technology works… And because of curiosity the television is invented.. The social media as its ending…..we don’t know when, and how it will end.

Facebook is one of the top in social media and the second one is you tube. You can watch everything in YouTube like music video, any episode of any show or even primetime show and drama even the old movie. You can also upload your video or your own movie but sometimes there a certain video that cannot be to the young people. There also have twitter and Google is like a dictionary and encyclopaedia that can give us information or word meaning. Even the history of the past. That’s why everybody rely on google or internet, they forget to open real dictionary or encyclopaedia to their researched.
As i can see, 10-20 years from now the television is little by little swallow by the social media. Television is limited entertainment or information while the social media is unlimited to everything. There are complete menu, entertainment, education, social, unlimited information and many more.

Television viewers behavior become more active, sometimes we wanted to get what we have seen in a television. More craving/wants to become updated and influence the attitude specially the fashion we wanted to become “IN” because of the television influence. I believed that this is the big problem facing in television industry because sometimes in television show theres a violence that some people wanted to do so even if its bad specially the children in our society.
Here in the Philippines, we are also updated in what is new, what is in and what is the latest. We are now in the industry that there are a competitions between not 1 or 2 network but more than that. The commercial or advertisement you can now give the information using television and this is more easily for the company to advertise their products and services for the target audience.
The challenges facing of the television industry now is how they can promote their movies and product. Television years ago is the best instrument one person could have. they treat it as precious as gold. it is what they call an instrument for entertainment. not until social media came by. all those hard work that the television gave to us just vanished. not thoroughly vanished but if were going to look at the percentage of usage between the two most likely the Social Media owns it.
Social Media for now is like a big help for us. especially on things that needs social interaction. no doubt some people would say "i can't live without this". especially for me a broadcasting student, we are the people who end up facing the camera talking at the television where only 2 to 3 people out of 10 are watching. it is a great help when social media came. now we can post on forums, blogs, sites and anywhere we want the things we want to say or talk about.
if there's a good side of social media of course there's also a bad side of it. that's what we call "HACKING". some people may call it an effing idea of the people who are doing it. Many people are becoming a victim of it and until now more and more are being hacked by this what you call hackers. although sometimes people who has been hacked can recover what they loss but not all of them some of them suffer.
but if i were to choose between television and social media. i wuold choose ............... hmm .... BOTH! i need them! got problem :)

Television would be the most popular form of entertainment as well as a good source of information. At that WAS way back when, I don't actually know. :) Hihi. All I can observe now is that television is literally "nauungusan" by the so-called social media.
Social media is the most popular as of today and it's popularity can never be determine when will fade. SOCIAL MEDIA EATS US ALIVE! We might not be noticing it. But the fact that our daily lives depend on this social media, well then that would be an obvious sign.
The domination of social media towards television is clearly saying that domination of computers into the entire world is not impossible. As for me, I will not be surprised if we depend on computers like hell. Making us to procrastinate more and make ourselves believe that we are nothins without these little machines that once were made by us.

Social Media VS. Television? Me, as an internet user, honestly I would go for the Social Media. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr, Multiply, etc., are the things that you can't have on TV. It's simply because, you can't control TV. Unlike on the internet, with just one click, and press, WALAAAAAH! There's the information that you need, there's the movie that you want, there's the news that you want to know, there's the.. blah blah blah.. EVERYTHING! And also, Social Media helps us to connect with other people, not only here in the Philippines but also abroad, using Skype and Yahoo Messenger. Isn't that easy? All you need is a computer with internet. (OF COURSE!)
Evidently, Social Media is feeding us of what we need, not only for social purposes but also feeding us all of the information and entertainment that we need that Television can't give. For example, for us students, if we have projects or homeworks, set aside all the books kiddo! JUST GOOGLE IT! If you want to have a movie marathon tonight with your family, why bother go to Cinema or a Video House, Video Shop or whatever you wanna call it. Just DOWNLOAD it! No sweat! I know some of you might say "Ah-uh! What's the use of Cable Connection? There's PBO, HBO, Cinema One, etc. Those channels already exist! So why do I have to download?". Yeah, yeah, I know. But what's good about downloading is that you can just type all the title of the movies that you want then wait for it to completely download. Unlike on television, you can't control the shows and movies that's gonna be aired. On TV, if you don't want the show, get the remote control and find something entertaining for you. Haaaiist, same old routine. But in Social Media, everythings at your fingertips!!!! Another thing is if you want to catch-up on the latest news and trends, there you go, everything's already served for you. Social Media has also been used in Business means, like advertisments, promotions, etc.
The Social Media population are increasing. The current world population is 7,012,344,241 and counting while the current internet population is 2,299,479,128 and still counting. And now, while I'm typing this sentence it's already 2,299,479,474! Geeez, look how phenomenal it is?!
I'm not against television, ok?! I also watch TV of course. :) But based on observations, in all aspects, truly, Social Media is already taking over the television era.

Social media? It comes in so many ways, through television, radio, magazine, newspaper and most especially INTERNET. Who among us can ever live without internet at homes? Life, Happiness, and Satisfaction things that internet brings us. Most of the people now days, defends on it, weather forecast, trending outfits, and also relationship status.
Even little kids, got time to spend with the computer. Admit it, this social media made easier for us to communication, to grasp some information, to live a wonderful life. But let’s also face the truth that things, made some things worse. Children who are out for school early, just to play with the computer. Young teenagers got pregnant and don’t the father of their child, because they just meet on this social site facebook.

Social media is all around us. we made a lot of friends- facebook, we know a lot of gossip- twitter, we love movies and music- youtube what more could we ask for. we can easily get everything we want and needed with a flick of our fingers. that's how social media works, a playful thing to consider.

Which is better?
Nowadays, we used any medium to communicate with others like computer, cellphone, iphone and many more. By using those medium, many of us felt that were "in" in terms of gadgets but we don't know that using those gadgets we forgot to seen the television industry.
Social media affects the television industry because some of us, were using website to watch a movie instead of television. So it affects the viewers behavior through watching non-sense movie in the internet. They are people who used social media that will change their own behavior and preferences.
We used the elements in the social media to revolutionize the television by using an interactive dialogue that the viewers can relate. Let's face the fact that social media and television were same in some aspects like social media and television is a medium, it can be a communicator , it used an interactive dialogue but their differences were social media was made by different people while the television was happened in a real life.

one is has less and less to do with what one knows and experiences. social media have altered the significance of time and space for social
interaction. it even impact our offline behavior means we getting thick in using social media we rather using internet to research something than to open a book.
We rather open our facebook than to face in the book. But no matter how badly a social media affects people around the world it is much less difficult and make a social communication or media easily and immediately works :)
